As a registered nurse, you’ve gained practical knowledge and skills that allow you to offer your patients the best care possible. You can take the skills you’ve already acquired and learn how to take on a more advanced role in our Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner program.

Our CCNE accredited ( program empowers you to offer high-quality primary and specialty care to patients of all ages. And when you’ve completed your program, you’ll be eligible to sit for the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), Family Nurse Practitioner-Board Certified (FNP-BC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) Family Nurse Practitioner-Certified (FNP-C) credential.

By taking one class at a time you can move toward your goal in a way that fits into your busy schedule. You’ll enhance your skill level with courses that look into advanced anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology along with the roles of an advanced practice nurse.

About one year into your program you will participate in an intensive 5 day residency included in the NRP/571: Advanced Health Assessment II and Clinical Procedures.*

  • Online students – last 5 days of your course (Thursday – Monday) in Phoenix, AZ
  • Local Students – will occur between week 7 and week 8

Throughout your program you will be required to complete precepted clinical hours over 5 courses:

  • 45 preceptor clinical hours each for NRP/555, NRP/556, NRP/563, NRP/543
  • 420 preceptor clinical hours for NRP/590

Prior to admission into the MSN/FNP program, students are required to submit:

  • All undergraduate transcripts, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher (provisional status at 2.5). Minimum grade of C or better on undergraduate science coursework.
  • Detailed resume of your nursing career including a minimum 3 years of full time work experience in the last 10 years and a minimum of 2 years of clinical RN work.
  • A valid, unencumbered, unrestricted RN license in the state they live and will be completing clinical requirements.

*Students are responsible for the cost of the residency trip and supplies.

Requirements and prerequisites
